At Populus, we regularly conduct research into the views of MPs (as well as other senior stakeholder audiences). On the last couple of MP Panel surveys, we asked MPs “What are the three of four issues facing your constituency and your constituents that you are most concerned about at the moment?”
Our Parliamentary Concern Tracker below shows how views differ between the political parties and how they have changed since June.
- Brexit remains the most common cause of concern for MPs, with 79% saying it is one of the issues they are most concerned about. This concern is consistent across Conservative and Labour MPs.
- Housing and benefits/Universal Credit are also concerning issues for many, though Labour MPs are more likely to rause these than their Conservative counterparts.
- The NHS/healthcare and crime/policing make up the other issues in the top five, with crime seeing a slight increase in mentions since June 2019.
