This poll,part of a regular monthly series for The Times,covered Voting Intention, Britain’s economy, the next general election and the tax status of senior Conservative donor, Lord Ashcroft.

Populus interviewed a random sample of 1,500 adults aged 18+ by telephone between March 5th and 7th 2010. Interviews were conducted across 100 Labour-held constituencies where the Conservatives are in second place (using notional results where seats have been affected by boundary changes). The constituencies sampled are those ranking 50th to 149th in descending order of marginality and the results have been weighted to be representative of all adults in those constituencies.
