Qualitative Research Executives (REs) contribute to a wide variety of research projects. We have a diverse range of clients and REs will have the opportunity to work and develop their skills across a number of sectors. The following description sets out the minimum requirements of the role. As is the case with all roles at Populus, Qualitative Research Executives will be expected to contribute in whatever way they can to the success of the company and may be asked to undertake tasks that are not included below.
As a Research Executive your tasks could include:
— undertaking desk research to inform proposals and client work;
— drafting research materials including proposals, screeners, discussion guides, reports and presentations;
— working with external qualitative recruitment suppliers
— moderating focus groups, conducting depth interviews (face-to-face and telephone), conducting ethnographic interviews and observation, conducting vox pop video interviews, helping to facilitate workshops (consumers and clients);
— online community set up and moderation;
— inputting into qualitative analysis and presentation writing; contributing to the creative visualisation of data;
— video vox pop editing and clipping
— checking and proof reading documents;
— supporting the new business process;
— attending client briefings and presentations;
— Ensuring data protection policies are followed, including completion of all relevant documentation.
Qualitative Research Executives play an important role in the Business and Consumer Insight team and are expected to work in support of the Company’s strategic objectives, vision and values.
Required Skills and Abilities

It is essential that REs have:
— a degree level (or equivalent) education;
— outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
— excellent attention to detail and time management;
— an interest in research and its application to business challenges;
— the ability to use their initiative and a strong desire to learn new skills;
— confidence in the use of Microsoft Office applications;
It is desirable that REs have:
— previous experience of working in a commercial environment;
— previous experience of using qualitative and/or quantitative research techniques either in an academic or commercial context;
— a wide sphere of knowledge with interest in marketing, brands and consumer trends.

As a Research Executive you will receive on the job training in a wide range of research techniques and projects before completing the MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice.
